Alexandra Wray | Working in sports as a mom

For myself when we first found out that I was expecting, I’ll admit a lot went through my mind. Lots of emotions. I had just had one of the best years of my life both personal and professional. I felt like everything was falling into place, and then we got pregnant. I was nervous that this would create such a huge bump into my career goals, but it reality it didn’t have to.

Now, almost two and half years later my fiancé and I welcomed both Gianna (2 years old) and Jordan (5 months old) and I’m still working in sports doing what I love.

Working in sports we all know that the journey to get to where we want to be is different for everyone. There is no single path to follow and that’s what I had to realize for me when becoming a mother. That’s when I came up with the idea of creating “Mommy & Me + SPORTS” on Instagram.

Mommy & Me + SPORTS is a community that highlights mothers who are athletes, journalists and everyday mothers who love sports. I’m also able to include my oldest Gianna, when we record fun game day recipes or fun holiday crafts/activities for others to try with their little one(s).

By creating this page, it has allowed me to continue working in sports, and be a mother at the same time. I don’t have to choose. This is something that took me a while to realize, that these two can exist in the same space. Because being a mother is forever, so embrace it and use it to create your own path.
