To the woman making excuses not to play the sport she’s always wanted to...
It’s not too late.
You’re not too old.
You can do it, even if you’re scared.
You can learn new things at any age.
IT’S TIME TO GET IN THE GAME
Learning a new sport at any age can be scary, but it’s even scarier learning something new as an adult. We often limit ourselves to doing things we already know how to do, thinking that if we didn’t learn it earlier in life, there’s no point now. As a kid, you’re usually encouraged to try, to fail, to learn, but as adults we feel like if we haven’t already done it, it’s too late to start now.
This couldn’t be further from the truth.
There is no expiry date on learning something new. There’s no age limit on starting a new sport. Our ability to learn new things doesn’t stop when we become adults.
It can be intimidating to try new things as an adult. There’s a greater fear of judgement, we’re harder on ourselves, and we don’t put ourselves in a lot of situations where we’re challenged to learn new things like we do as children. We think that we should do what we’re good at and we stop doing things we aren’t good at, even if we love those things.
It’s time to let your inner child be free again.
It’s time to challenge yourself.
It’s time to discover confidence you didn’t know you had.
It’s time to play the sport you’ve always dreamed of.
Sure, it’ll be hard, both physically and mentally. But it will also be one of the most rewarding things you’ll ever do for yourself.
Be brave enough to suck at something new.
Be brave enough to learn.
Be brave enough to keep showing up because you love it and not because you’re good at it.
Be brave enough to do something for yourself, regardless of what anyone else thinks.
Be brave enough to show others that it’s never too late to take your shot.
Playing a new sport just might change your life.
