The Girls In Sport Canada, Sport Coach is a summer camp role that requires you to volunteer 2 hours per day either in the morning or the afternoon for 2-3 days of our multi-sport camp. The coaches main role is to coach their specific sport to the girls in fun and engaging way. The girls at these camps ranges from the ages of 5-12 years old. The days camps will be happening at:

● King’s University on July 8-12, 2024 from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm each day.
● Kings University July 15-19, 2024 from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm each day.
● Orchards Residents Association August 6-9 from 8:45-12:30 pm each day.
● Orchards Residents Association August 19-23 from 8:45-12:30 pm each day
● Aspen Gardens 2-day camp ~9:00am – 3:30pm, week of July 29-August 2 (exact dates and times to be confirmed)
● Aspen Gardens 2-day camp week of August 26-30 (exact dates and times to be confirmed)

Key Responsibilities:
– Coach their specific sport to two different groups of girls. One group will be for ages 5-8 and the other will be ages 9-12. The duration of each group is about 45 minutes
– Plan age appropriate lessons for the girls that are fun and engaging
– If you are representing a sports organization then we ask you to bring your own equipment.

If you cannot bring your own equipment or need us to supplement it then we need to know at least three weeks in advance.

Qualifications

The Ideal candidate demonstrates:

– Strong verbal and written communication in English.
– Passion for sports and coaching
– Comfortable with teaching and interacting with kids ages 5-12 years old
– Enthusiastic personality with a passion for interpersonal communication and engagement
– Passionate about working with kids

Qualifications:
· Prior coaching experience
· Experience coaching a group of kids and experience with encouraging them to participate in activities
· Experience with teaching/coaching kids ages 5-17 years old
· NCCP Coaching Certification in any sport would be considered an asset

Additional Requirements
· Access to a reliable means of transportation to get to each camp
· Police Check

Other Details

All the volunteer positions with Girls In Sport Canada, require individuals to be onsite at camps.

The coach will be compensated for $15.00/hour that they volunteer with us during the summer camps.
