My name is Krystyna, and I am reaching out to you from the Brenda Strafford Foundation’s Heart Home Network (HHN) 😊 HHN provides temporary and second-stage housing and other supports to women and children fleeing domestic violence in Calgary.
One of our exciting campaigns this year is our Online Mentorship Auction. Throughout March, we will be auctioning off one hour virtual or in-person meetings with successful women in various areas of life and work, whom we believe would be great mentors for women in various career and life paths. We hope to raise much-needed funding for programming and employment support for our clients, and to improve awareness for our cause.
We wanted to reach out to the sports community in Calgary to find women who may be interested in participating as mentors for this exciting project! The goal is to get a wide variety of mentors from different fields of work and backgrounds, so that all potential mentees can see their aspirations reflected.
The campaign will be run through an online auction platform. Each mentor in a variety of categories from business to art to sports will have a profile with their photo and a brief overview. Throughout March, we will be advertising the auction to get as many bids as possible. This portion has no time commitment for you (though we would encourage you to share the auction with your network to increase exposure!)
After a few weeks, the winning bidder for each mentor will receive a single one-hour mentorship session. The exact contents of the session are up to the mentor and mentee. We are looking for women who are qualified and confident in their sport with multiple years of experience, who can pass on skills and/or advice and inspire others hoping to follow a similar path. Entrepreneurs, instructors, athletes, and players are welcome.
You may specify what type of session content you are interested in delivering: one-on-one hands-on coaching is preferred in-person, while general advice and motivational sessions may be in-person or virtual.
The campaign timeline is as follows:
– February 17th – deadline to submit Mentor Bio (template will be provided) and a photo of yourself that we will use for your auction profile
– March 1st – kickoff of fundraiser
– March – bidding window
– End of March – winning bidders (mentees) informed
– Early April – contact established between mentors and mentees
